Match Preview: Blues v Chelmsford City
News - General
Monday, 31 December 2012 13:16

Chelmsford City are the first visitors to New Lodge in 2013 when they take on The Blues in a much anticipated local derby on New Years Day.

With the return fixture at Melbourne Park having been postponed on Boxing Day both sets of fans have had to wait an extra week for the return of this popular fixture.

Since the postponement both teams experienced differing emotions in their last league games on Saturday. City recorded an impressive 2-1 victory over Boreham Wood at Melbourne Park. In contrast The Blues were suffering a dissapointing 1-0 defeat at AFC Hornchurch.

Boss Craig Edwards welcomes defender Chris Wild and midfielder Junior Luke back to the squad following their one game suspension. Their return will give Edwards the opportunity to shuffle his squad off the back of Saturdays defeat.

Kick off is at 3pm.

Craig Edwards takes his team to Bridge Avenue on Saturday hoping for a return to action for the first time in three weeks as the Blues take on AFC Hornchurch.

The Boxing Day postponement at Chelmsford was the latest game to fall foul of the recent bout of bad weather and the Blues boss will be keen to see his team follow up on their last league victory against Bath City three weeks ago.

Chris Wild and Junior Luke miss the game through suspension, but new keeper Sam Beasant is once again expected to make his debut.

Despite the bad weather the Urchins did manage to play their scheduled Boxing Day game, but went down 3-0 at home to Welling Utd.

Kick off is at 3pm.

McDonald returns to Braintree, Beasant joins the Blues
News - Players
Sunday, 23 December 2012 14:09

Unfortunately we have not renewed the loan of Nathan McDonald, Nathan has been fantastic for us and under different circumstances we would have kept him, during his short time with us he quickly settled and became an integral part of the squad as well as being a fans favourite. But with Braintree able to recall him at any time (could be as late as a Saturday morning) it was too big a risk to take. We would like to thank Nathan for his time with us

Moving on we are delighted to announce the signing of Sam Beasant, Sam has come to an arrangement with Woking Fc to mutually release his contractual obligations and joins us on a permanent basis. Sam has a good background, starting at Chelsea and progressing through the Glen Hoddle academy before singing for Woking at the beginning of this season. Sam has impressed Manager Craig Edwards and Goalkeeping Coach Paul Halsey immensely during the past couple of weeks. Paul said “he has great quality, his kicking is excellent and he’s a pleasure to work with”
