Second half goals from Bertie Brayley and Anthony Robinson saw Billericay make progress in the FA Trophy at the expense of Zamaretto League side Banbury United on Saturday.

Had the visitors converted their first half dominance into goals they might have progressed to the next round, however it was Billericay who converted the chances to take the win. For the first time this season, Billericay boss Craig Edwards was able to name an unchanged side, whilst there was good news in Micah Hyde returning to the squad to take his place on the bench.

Banbury had much the better of the first half, and almost took the lead early on when Nicky Morgan had to push Marvin Martin's shot over in the second minute after a goalmouth scramble. Midway through the half Morgan again did well to save from the lively Scott Cross at his near post, while there were also long range efforts from Cross and David Staff for the 'keeper to deal with.

Billericay had rarely threatened in the first half, with their best chance coming just before the break as Robinson showed good strength to turn inside his marker however his shot flew just over the bar.

With the half-time words from Edwards ringing in their ears, Billericay played with more purpose after the break, cutting out some of the errors that saw them concede possession far too regularly in the first half.

Billericay took the lead five minutes into the half when Brayley converted from the spot after Ross Oulton had all but caught his goal-bound shot. The goal looked to knock some of the stuffing out of the visitors, and Billericay began to enjoy the better of the chances with Junior Dadson sending a low shot flashing across the face of goal after good work from Brayley had played him in on the Billericay left.

Billericay extended their lead late on when Anthony Robinson showed his predatory instincts to score Town's second after Harrison Chatting's shot had hit him as he tried to get out of the way. At that stage Town looked to have the win in the bag, but a late penalty awarded for what looked suspiciously like a dive was converted by Shariff made it a nervy final couple of minutes for the Blues.
