The Blues went down 3-0 to Conference South title favourites Dover Athletic in their last pre-season friendly at New Lodge.

Craig Edwards line-up was once again hampered with no fewer than 5 first team players missing. On an excellent playing surface, the game started scrappily with few chances at either end. Dover opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Donovan Simmonds fired home. The Blues went close on several occasions after but lacked the finish to some neat play. Tony Boot should've equalised just before half-time but squandered his chance when put clean thru. Dover doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time with only their second shot on target provided by Luke L'Anson. HT 0-2

The Blues were caught napping at the start of the second half when former Blue Billy Bricknell scored from the penalty spot in the 49th minute. The Blues continued to threat but as the game wore on, the exertions from Thursday nights encounter with Norwich City allowed Dover to slowly grind out a result without troubling Nicky Morgan in goal. A 3-0 defeat, but one that most definately flattered the Kent visitors.
