The Blues played out an entertaining draw at New Lodge with Wingate & Finchley. Injuries again hampered team selection for Craig Edwards with Junior Luke, Emeke Onwubiko, Dale Brightly and Courtney White all nursing knocks.
The Blues had the better of the opening exchanges with Small and Chatting forcing good saves from the Wingate number 1. Chris Wild then hit the bar before the visitors had a decent penalty claim waived away by the ref. Wild was not to be denied when he poked home from close range following a Glenn Poole corner. The visitors were dangerous on the break and Brown in goal pulled off a spectacular save to keep the advantage. Chris Wild's poor back pass then allowed the visitors to squander an excellent opportunity. Small then looked to have been upended in the penalty area with the ref deciding to give a free-kick.
The second half started with the Blues more dominant, but it was Wingate who equalised in bizarre circumstances. Simon Brown's clearance from just outside the area hit the backside of Chris Wild and back over the keepers head. The Wingate keeper was still in form as Osbourne and Small were both denied. Small was denied another penalty shout with the referee again preferring a free-kick. Jay May's effort late on was cleared off the line as the Blues had to make do with a draw.
