Two late goals from substitute Billy Bricknell saved Town's blushes as they laboured to a win over Waltham Abbey in the league cup. Beating the division one side sees the Blues set up a tie with AFC Hornchurch at New Lodge in the next round.
Town started well, forcing the tempo early on and duly took the lead when Bradley Woods-Garness hit a low shot past Aaron Tillbrook after 15 minutes. The lead was short lived, however, and Ashley Dumas tripped James Elmes to concede a penalty barely a minute later which Elmes converted.
Town dominated possession, but struggled to break down the massed ranks of the Abbey defence. Indeed it was the visitors who took the lead ten minutes from time when Aaron Gayle got in between Tim Cole and Ronnie Worster to score from close range.
That was the cue for Bricknell to enter the fray and he bagged the equalliser when Tillbrook missed Dave Wareham's high cross, leaving Bricknell with an easy headed finish. The winner, minutes later, saw the Town striker lob the Abbey keeper and reach twenty goals for the season already.
