Thursday night saw a young Town team bow out in the 4th Round of the Isthmian League Cup, to what was pretty much a full strength Sittingbourne side. Mindful that the Blues had three games in a week and need to concentrate on their league campaign, Blues Boss Statham selected only Oates, Street, Cleaver and Marsh from squad that had lost to Maidstone on Tuesday night, with Russell Pond also returning after missing that game.
Hicham Akhazzan put the Brickies ahead just before half-time, and added a second a few minutes after the restart. Mike Marsh gave Town some hope when he struck an equaliser on the hour mark, but Ryan Golding put the tie to bed with five minutes remaining when he slotted past Lewis Lockyer, after finding himself in acres of space.
