What a fantastic season it’s been, and it’s not over yet, the U18s still have a game to go, they play Brentwood (Away) on Tuesday, with the chance of becoming Grand EJA Champions.

Together, we have achieved so much. We have so many good people in place, so many good coaches and volunteers at our Club, we can only go from strength to strength, I’m so looking forward to next season already, and hopefully our first team finally gaining that elusive prize of promotion.

Next season we are introducing an U21ss to the set-up. We have a lot of good talent coming through our ranks and we don’t want to lose them. Although talented, at 18, they don’t quite have the power to compete for a first team place. But with the introduction of U21s we can progress them further, and ensure they have every opportunity to earn a first team spot.

Our link with Norwich City has worked very well and it will continue next season, we have already unearthed a talented crop of young players, several of whom have been invited to train at the Norwich academy next season. Norwich are pleased with the standard we have achieved and have rewarded us. Paul Lambert will be sending a strong side to New Lodge for a pre-season friendly.

With over 20 teams at Billericay, our family of volunteers is huge, managers, coaches, taxis, launderers, caterers,  fundraisers, administrators, cleaners, ground staff, turnstile operators, printers, stewards, bar staff , secretaries, treasurers. And then there is the elite, those few who fulfill many roles 52 weeks of the year. To each and every one of you I give my sincere thanks and gratitude. Together we have achieved so much, and we’re not done yet!.

I would like to give a special mention to John Miff, because without him our youth set-up would be average, but it isn’t, it’s fast becoming the best youth set-up in the county, Premiership sides don’t do average! The future looks very good indeed.

You all have a great summer, don’t forget the beer festival, and I will see you all soon.

Steve.
