It’s at times like these that I think of Jim Hall

Well it's not been the start we expected. Pre-season it looked as if we had assembled a good squad, a squad who were capable of competing at the top end of the table - how wrong we were.

At the time I thought we were unlucky Vs  Wealdstone, Hendon  & Waltham Abbey. We played good football and created a hatful of chances in those games but were unable to gain all three points.

But here we are just 11 weeks in and already we’re having to rebuild the side. It’s not ideal, but it has to be done, and if it’s not right this time and we have to rebuild again, then that’s what we will do, and we will continue to do, until we get it right. Giving up isn’t an option.  It’s at times like these that I think of Jim Hall, Jim was a fighter he never gave up.

The very first day I joined Billericay, at the very first press conference I vowed that I would give this club the support and structure that will enable it to go onto bigger and better things, I also stated that each year I would decrease my financial support thus encouraging the club to grow and stand alone financially.  I am just the current custodian of a club that has always been, and always will be, owned by its supporters.  It’s you guys who hold all the cards, of course you need someone at the helm, someone to make the day-to-day decisions but it’s the club, the supporters, who drive the engine.

So I find it ironic that some of those who criticise claiming the club lacks passion ambition and heart, then stay away. This action only hurts the club, it may irritate me, it may annoy me, but it hurts Billericay Town F.C.  Shouting at players “you’ve got to work harder” and the like is positive encouragement, but telling them “they’re crap ” is just harming Billericay Town FC. How do you expect the team to show passion, to give a 100%, when they hear from the terraces they’re crap. How do you expect a team to fight back or fight on, when the vibe from the terraces is one of defeat?

Our results of late are nowhere near good enough, we all know that. Changes have to be made, we all know that, we need to win more games, we all know that, we want to win every game, we all know that. We all want the same things, shouting the obvious from the roof tops, or sulking and staying away isn’t going to improve anything.  United we stand divided we’ll fall. There are a number of outsiders who are doing their best to divide and conquer, with some limited success I might add, but if this club is to move on, to move up, then we need to stand firm.

Standing on the side moaning  and laying blame is a recipe for disaster, if you guys really care about Billericay Town F.C. then support it, I’m not asking you to become sycophants, I’m not suggesting that I, or anyone else has all the answers, I’m just asking you to think about the consequence of your actions and to remind you that if you want things to change, then become part of the family.

And remember that if it wasn’t for the good people in this club who do support, who do work tirelessly for the club no matter what the results, there would be no Billericay Town F.C. If they stayed away sulking when we lost that would be the end.

So come on people, FFS cheer up and lets look forward to a new day, Football is there to be enjoyed, there are enough things in the world for the doomsters to feed on, Football isn’t one of them

C’MON YOU BLUES!!!!
