Brentwood Town Res 0 vs. Billericay Town Res 2 (HT 0-1)
W.Matata 3 mins
T. Martin 87 mins
Blues opened their League account with a comfortable away win against next door neighbours Brentwood Town. With a scoreline indicating just a two goal margin and a void of 84mins, the question in hand should be, how close was this game? Well, that an easy answer, not close at all.... In fact the only thing that was close was the colours we played in. With a four, five, one formation, and five midfielders trying to get on the end of their first hatrick of the season, it was with no surpriset hat the hosts spent most of the evening defending, especially as young Walid Matata found the net early on with a well taken chip just inside the opponents box. It was nice to see a good mixture of youth and senior players making up the side. The back four consisted of Getro Kilapi, Kane Branson, Julnath Goma and Shane Stamp making easy work of any pressure Brentwood decided to apply. In goal was young master Jack Avery of the U18's, playing his first men's football for the club, again making easy work of anything entering his manor. In Midfield running amok was Junior Luke, Matt Hall, Gareth Street, Alex Fiddes and Walid Matata playing just behind Mammadou Traore. To be fair to Brentwood, it was a really nice game to watch with both teams giving their all and some lovely football being played.
Blues second goal did come late in the game (87 mins) when young Tony Martin came on as a sub and wrapped things up putting the hosts out of their prolonged misery (or should I say mine!) with a well taken shot across the goal.
Subs were:
Connel Dunlop coming on for Branson on 45mins
Tony Martin coming on for Luke on 65 mins
Mike Marsh coming on for Goma on 70 mins
Billy Radley. Not Used
Jack Edwards. Not used |
