Blues return to league action and head to Hendon Swaine & May return to the squad By Paul Jennings
The Blues make a return to league action on Saturday when they make the trip to Wembley to take on Hendon.
Boss Craig Edwards welcomes Captain Rob Swaine and forward Jay May back to the squad, but will be without the suspended Junior Luke.
Edwards will need to shuffle his squad for the game to deal with an injury and a departure from his squad.
‘We will be without James Hawes after he picked up an ankle injury last weekend and Dave Collis will come in to replace him. I’m delighted to have Dave back. He is the fittest I have ever seen him and undoubtedly has the best dead ball delivery in non league football’ he said.
‘I’m disappointed to lose Paul Semakula to Maidenhead this week, but we have a ready made replacement in Richard Halle. Richard has a great attitude and will bring great experience and quality to the team’
Another player to have left the club is David Knight following last weekend’s half time incident in the game with Wealdstone.
‘David Knight has joined East Thurrock. We are looking at replacements at the minute, but we won’t be rushed into anything. We have to get the right player for club who has the right attitude.’
Edwards was upbeat about his team’s prospects despite the issues he has encountered in the last 7 days.
‘If you look at the clubs who have been successful in this league over the last few seasons, they are all teams that have been packed with experienced players that still have a real hunger for the game. If you mix those with some younger players you have every chance of being a success’
After a flying start to the season, Hendon’s form has dropped away over the last few weeks and as a result they now sit in 6th position. They have however made some big signings in recent weeks with the capture of former football professionals Frank Sinclair and Darren Currie.
Admission in £9 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for Under 16’s.
