Billericay Town Ladies bow out of the Women's FA Cup on Sunday 27th September.
Match report by Kim Coster.

Billericay Town Ladies had the more positive start and were 2–0 up in the first 10 minutes.  Billericay knew they were facing very strong competition and had to try and take control early in the game.
Lisa Silverton’s pace was causing Hemel’s defence problems.  On the 7th minute Silverton’s pace saw a defenders clumsy challenge and Billericay were awarded a free kick on the edge of the 18 yard area. Lisa Robins took responsibility and her perfect free kick found the corner of the net. Billericay then had Hemel on the back foot and Silverton’s pace saw her one on one with the keeper.  The challenge by the keeper left Silverton floored and the referee immediately pointed to the spot.  It was a surprise the keeper was not carded or sent off. Robin’s confidence of scoring the first goal saw her neatly put the penalty past the standing keeper.

Hemel appeared to be shell shocked and Billericay broke again. Robins put Kerry Oldham through one on one with the keeper but her final shot was straight at the keeper.

Hemel didn’t get into the game until the 23rd minute.  Robyn Strauss playing in goal for Billericay made an excellent save to deny Hemel a goal. Hemel continued to push to try and find a way forward but Billericay held firm until a good move by Hemel, long ball switching play saw a Hemel forward break free and chipped the advancing Strauss to make it 1-2 just before half time.

Second half saw Billericay soak up pressure from Hemel’s drive to equalise. Billericay caught Hemel on the counter attack but were not able to make any of the chances count.  At the 90th minute Billericay thought they had done enough but a further 6 minutes of extra time saw Hemel score on the 92 and 95th minute.

On reflection Billericay were unlucky not to have secured the win but have taken many learning’s from the game. Kim Coster quoted after the game "I now know how Arsene Wenger felt like last season.  It’s a compliment to the team but I now have two further injuries that will put my players out for a number of weeks".

Billericay now meet Yaxley away in the League Cup on 4th October. The Ladies reserves are home to Barking reserves 2pm KO at New Lodge
