Away Day Win for Billericay Blues

Billericay Town secure an important 3 points in the season’s campaign.

Billericay travelled to Leighton Linslade for their first meet of the season and it was clear to see that Autumn is now with us, the pitch was exposed causing  the wind to change direction this affected both teams play, congratulations go to the referee to managed a game where the lines were in some parts of the game were unclear to the leaves falling in the wind.

The game was played in good spirit and Billericay were soon into their stride of quick play and pressure forcing errors from the opposition, within the first two minutes Sam Edwards pressurised the Leighton defence winning the ball and setting back a neat pass to Sophie Whiting who played a quick pass into the path of Lisa Silverton who struck home with ferocity. Good play from both teams continued till the 42nd minute Sam Edwards attacked the wing getting in behind the left back her cross was met with a diving header by Hayley Spallin 0-2, within a minute of play Hollie Dimambro in goal for Billericay, played a quick throw to Lisa Robins whose quick pass to Nicola Gore saw her  beat the defender and made a perfect split pass through Leighton’s central defence, Silverton first to the ball slotted the ball past the advancing keeper, 0-3
Just before half time Billericay’s defence called off side but Shelley Cook Billericay’s lines person kept the flag down Leighton forward scored past the standing Dimambro 1-3.

Billericay started the second half sprightly Edwards attacked the wing; her infield pass to Silverton was smashed into the net, leaving the Leighton keeper with no chance. 1-4. 47th minute Jo Peacock making her debut for Billericay Blues replaced Sophie Whiting. A goal kick in the 48th minute won by Nicola Gore saw her chip the out of position keeper 1-5. 49th minute saw Clare Hunt replace the injured Sarah Bovington.  Billericay in spells played some lovely football in the 50th minute Dimambro played wide to Leanne Wood, her pass to Gore was quickly played through the Leighton defence, Silverton beat the advancing keeper to slot the ball home 1-6, the final goal came from some good link up play, Clare Hunt playing out wide left played a through ball to Edwards whose strike smashed off the cross bar and Silverton was first to react smashing the ball home 1-7.
This was a good win for Billericay which over shadowed the performance of Leighton Linslade who continued to battle and played some excellent football.
