Billericay Town Ladies 5-0 Leighton Linslade Ladies Sunday 1st November ERWFL Division 1 South High Fives for Ladies Blues against Leighton Linslade
Another 3 important points secured.
Due to the extreme weather conditions Billericay Blues entertained Leighton Lindslade on the bottom pitch, albeit the rain had stopped the wind still made an impact to the play from both teams.
Billericay made an immediate impact on the game with Sam Edwards scoring within 2 minutes, quick direct play caught Leighton off guard, this spurred Billericay forward but they were unable to convert the chances created, too many players crowding the 18 yard area trying to get on the score sheet, for the remainder of the first half Billericay had Leighton pinned in and it took a further 43 minutes before the Blues were rewarded anything for their hard work, Lisa Silverton received the ball out wide outpaced 2 defenders to calmly the slot the ball home.
Second half saw Leighton start more sprightly playing good attacking football but found the Blue defence too strong to break down. Winning lots of second ball Billericay created chances on the counter attack. In the 50th minute Dan Rose replaced Leanne Wood, in Billericay’s defence and 53rd minute Paris Smith replaced Sam Edwards on the wing. This change created some neat play down the right wing the Leighton keeper did well to keep the score at 2-0. Kerry Oldham made it 3-0 with some fine quick play out from defence. Jo Peacock replaced Sarah Matson with 20 minutes to go, Peacock linked up well with player of the match Hayley Spallin attacking through Leighton’s midfield, Silverton scored her second from one of these attacks. Smith scored her debut goal for Billericay which was certainly one to remember hit with such ferocity it nearly took out the Leighton goal keeper and defender on the line, overall a good 3 points secured, Robyn Strauss Billericay’s young keeper was brought in at the last minute and did extremely well, a great job Robyn.
