Billericay Town have signed striker Leon McKenzie, 25, from Bromley
Leon played for Waltham Forest, Bishop's Stortford and Thurrock prior to joining Bromley. He made over 100 appearances for Thurrock, and scored 18 league goals for them last campaign.
Chairman Steve Kent said: "We're very pleased to sign Leon. He has scored goals wherever he has been."
Our current squad of signed players is listed below. There is still some strengthening to do, and we may loan out one or two of the younger lads to ensure they get regular week-in week-out competitive football. One noticeable absentee is goalkeeper Billy Lumley. Billy did sign for us, but on Sunday he received a call offering him professional football in Spain. Billy was previously a member of the Glen Hoddle Academy which is based in Spain, and it was through that connection that Billy's offer came about.
Sheikh Ceesay, Ian Cousins (Captain), Adam Flanagan, Greg Oates, Chris Wild, Michael Haswell, Andre Humphrey-Modeste, Ryan O'Rawe, Micah Hyde, Gareth Street, Matt Hall, Junior Luke, Serge Makofo, Evans Kouassi, Getro Kilapi, Alex Fiddes, Harrison Chatting, Danny Charge, Jacob Cleaver, Mike Marsh.
Billericay Town have signed centre-back Adam Flanagan, 32, who captained Dartford to promotion last season. The former Gillingham youngster, is the son of former Gills boss and ex-Charlton striker Mike Flanagan.
Adam played for Dagenham & Redbridge, St. Leonards, Hastings United and Folkestone Invicta prior to joining Dartford in Summer 2007.
He won player of the year at both Hastings United and St. Leonards, and was Invcicta's Player's Player of The Year during his last 3 seasons there.
Billericay Town are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Micah Hyde. Micah, 35, has made over 500 Football League appearances, as well as earning 16 caps for Jamaica. Last season he was Barnet's captain.
Micah started out at Brimsdown Rovers, playing alongside David Beckham, and went on to play for Cambridge United (106 apps), Watford (252 apps), Burnley (102 apps), Peterborough United (64 apps), and Woking (4 apps) prior to joining Barnet.
Micah rejected better pay deals to join us. He said he "liked the way we do things and has heard good things about the club".
Dave McSweeney will be back in a blue shirt next season, whilst Danny Green has secured a big move to League 2 side Dagenham & Redbridge on a 3-year contract.
Speaking on the moves, Craig Edwards said: "I'm delighted to have Macca back. I phoned him after Steve gave me the job and he asked where I was. I replied 'Where you should bloody be, at Billericay!!'. He is glad to be back and will big a big asset for us next season. He was my captain when I had him at Southend United as a youngster.
I am very pleased for Danny Green. He looks a good prospect and he is going to a great club for bringing through youngsters from non-league football. John Still rang me to apologise for signing him virtually as soon as I got here. He also kindly agreed to bring Dagenham & Redbridge over for a pre-season friendly."
Russell Pond sustained a tear of the minor meniscus cartilage duing Monday's win over AFC Hornchurch, which will require an operation to treat. Unfortunately, this means he will not play again this season.
We'd like to thank Russell for his efforts this season, and wish him a speedy recovery.
In light of Michael Shinn's departure, and with Paul Nicholls carrying an injury, Brian Statham has boosted his squad with two signings.
Speaking today, Statham said: "After the injury suffered by 1st choice keeper Paul Nicholls at Canvey, I have signed Ashlee Jones before the deadline. Ashlee has played for Rushden & Diamonds, Potters Bar Town, Fisher Athletic and Crawley Town before signing, in March 2009, for Wycombe Wanderers on a non-contract basis. In October 2009 he joined League Two club Darlington. He made his Football League debut on 1 December 2009 for Darlington in their 4–0 away defeat against Notts County. His contract was cancelled by mutual consent on 16 February 2010. Ashlee played for Kingstonian including the 5 – 1 reversal against us. He now trains full time at Crystal Palace, so is in good shape.
Following Michael Shinn's move to Dartford, I am very pleased to have secured the services of Jamie England from Ashford Town (Mx). Jamie is a central midfielder who is capable of scoring goals - he has 9 this season for both Carshalton and Ashford. A former pro at Brentford, Jamie joined Chelmsford City on loan before signing on a permanent basis. He was in the side that lost to Billericay in the play off semi-final but then went onto win promotion with City the following season. He left City that summer due to a contractual wrangle, finally signing for Carshalton, where once again he reached the play off final, only to lose on penalties.
Both Ashlee (22) and Jamie (21) are of a good age, are ambitious, and have good pedigree, so will be welcome additions to the squad, and with the recent additions of Mick Haswell and Bobby Aisien, plus the imminent return of Billy Bricknell the squad is in very good shape for the remainder of the season."
