The summer months tend to be the busiest and it has been no different this year. Several faces have departed and new faces have come in. Defensively we have kept Nicky Morgan, Greg Oates and Chris Wild. They all have great experience but are the right side of 30. They had great seasons and will once again be the bedrock of our campaign.
Our flying wingers Harrison and Junior have...
...signed deals. Last season was their first full season at this level and we will be expecting even more from them. We are delighted that Junior has been called up for his national side, Antigua. It's a great honour for him and will only add to his confidence.
Up top we had a number of strikers last season that started with a flurry but faded and had long barren spells. The exception was Tony Boot and we are more than pleased he has put pen to paper for the coming campaign. I have known 'Bootie' since he was with me as a young lad at Southend. He has always scored goals and he was the one striker we had that I would hang my hat on to score 25 a season. John Still once told me he was the best finisher he had worked with. We will be looking for youngsters Tony Martin and Billy Radley to progress and hopefully be pushing for a place in the side before too long.
We have brought a number of new faces in. Although only 24, Jay May seems to have been around forever. I have always been an admirer and whenever my sides have played against him he has been a real handful. He will give us the presence and quality we have lacked.
Last night we were thrilled that Jerome Sobers has signed. I gave 'J' his senior debut for Ford United in the Conference South at the age of 17. Within no time Ipswich Town had snapped him up for a fee of 10k. 'J' is now 25 and has been a real fans favourite at Bromley in recent seasons. He is an athlete, a winner and a beast of a player.
Full backs James Hawes and Ryan Adams have both signed. They are both very competitive with great engines. James has signed from Concord and Ryan from Hampton. I have been very impressed with their attitude and desire at training and I'm sure they will be very good additions.
I signed Matty Toms, 22, at Grays from Barnet. He was at Romford last seasonĀ and a major reason for the success they had. He is a very competitive centre back who scores more than his fair share.
Paul Semakula, 20, was recommended to me by my friend and non league legend Gary Abbott. He signed him on loan last season from Tonbridge. He told me he is the fittest player he had ever worked with and that he could play too. He has really impressed in training.
We have signed Courtney White from Castle United of the Olympian League. 'Brownie' saw him first and rang me immediately to tell me about him. We went to watch him and were very impressed. He is 6'3" has great pace and he scored 50 odd goals last season. It's a massive jump for him but one we believe he can make.
We have a good few more who have come in, particularly strikers, some from lower divisions who have really shown out well and if they do as well as we expect in the coming games I am sure they will be making their mark at the Blues next season. Many of them are on show at Waltham Forest this Saturday.
