In light of Michael Shinn's departure, and with Paul Nicholls carrying an injury, Brian Statham has boosted his squad with two signings. Speaking today, Statham said: "After the injury suffered by 1st choice keeper Paul Nicholls at Canvey, I have signed Ashlee Jones before the deadline. Ashlee has played for Rushden & Diamonds, Potters Bar Town, Fisher Athletic and Crawley Town before signing, in March 2009, for Wycombe Wanderers on a non-contract basis. In October 2009 he joined League Two club Darlington. He made his Football League debut on 1 December 2009 for Darlington in their 4–0 away defeat against Notts County. His contract was cancelled by mutual consent on 16 February 2010. Ashlee played for Kingstonian including the 5 – 1 reversal against us. He now trains full time at Crystal Palace, so is in good shape.
Following Michael Shinn's move to Dartford, I am very pleased to have secured the services of Jamie England from Ashford Town (Mx). Jamie is a central midfielder who is capable of scoring goals - he has 9 this season for both Carshalton and Ashford. A former pro at Brentford, Jamie joined Chelmsford City on loan before signing on a permanent basis. He was in the side that lost to Billericay in the play off semi-final but then went onto win promotion with City the following season. He left City that summer due to a contractual wrangle, finally signing for Carshalton, where once again he reached the play off final, only to lose on penalties. Both Ashlee (22) and Jamie (21) are of a good age, are ambitious, and have good pedigree, so will be welcome additions to the squad, and with the recent additions of Mick Haswell and Bobby Aisien, plus the imminent return of Billy Bricknell the squad is in very good shape for the remainder of the season."
