The Young Blues hit top spot as they produced their finest game of the season so far against a very good Thurrock side and played with Great Spirit in horrendous conditions at Ship Lane.

The Thurrock side had come off of a sterling midweek performance in the F.A Youth Cup against Southampton at St Mary’s and Billericay were still buzzing from there 16-0 win in the Essex Cup so it was always going to be  a quality top of the table clash.

Blues started the brighter and created a hat full of chances before on 14 minutes when a great pass from Tom Vickers found Jack Shepherd out right who delivered a great cross to Billy Schulver who showed great technique in bringing the ball down and smashing the ball into the net from 16 yards.

On 35 minutes striker Josh Pells-Lowbridge replaced Brodie Hone through injury.

Billericay should have doubled the lead just before half time when some great play from Danny Janes set Bradley Hooper who hit a inch perfect pass to Josh Pells-Lowbridge who unselfishly squared the ball to Jake Swift who’s shot was narrowly wide.

H-T 0-1

The second half started as the first half finished with Billericay looking the more likely to score and several chances went amiss before some great build up play between Billy Radley and Bradley Hooper found Jack Shepherd who again hit a great cross onto the oncoming head of Jake Swift which found the far corner of the net.

Thurrock pulled a goal back when the great defence of Sam Burton, Tom Vickers, Kane Brandon, Jack Shepherd was split with a great through ball and the Thurrock striker slotted the ball past the outstanding Jack Avery on 77 minutes.

Billericay continued to search for the third goal and efforts from Janes, Hooper and Radley were denied by the Thurrock keeper, but the Blues held on for the well deserved 3 points.

WELL DONE ALL ON A GREAT PERFORMANCE!
