To All Billericay Town’s Loyal Supporters
Firstly think you very much for your support last Saturday for our match against Leiston. It was very humbling to see so many of you there and from a personal perspective it was fantastic to see all the time, effort and money we have spent so far coming to fruition with such a fantastic support, which was backed up with a great performance on the pitch. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a huge crowd enjoying themselves while the boys give them a performance to match up to the support.
I think it’s fair to say that the football club has woken from its slumber and I am loving every second of watching that happen. You have made myself and the players feel so welcome and supported in your presence, singing, comments and participation in the whole match day experience that it’s impossible not to be drawn into the momentum we are building. It really is a dream come true to see what we set out to achieve becoming closer to a reality and I thank each and every one of you for your part in that. Please be assured that I am totally committed to the long term with the club and I very much look forward to forging this long journey with you all.
I have the full support of my family with my new obsession as I can never wait to return to my two new families, the players and you the fans. Before I took over we had booked a family holiday to Dubai which I returned from yesterday because I could not possibly have missed a game and not been there for you and the team given the bond we have formed in such a short space of time. By the time the cup final comes round I will have flown back and forth five times leaving the family each time but they are fully supportive and understand the need to be there for you and the boys. I have spent the last few weeks constantly singing the team’s song, R Kelly ‘The World’s Greatest’ accompanied by ‘What a Waste of Money’! I think it’s fair to say that Billericay Town is getting under my skin!
It honestly is the best money I’ve ever spent and I am very much looking forward to the future as we build the club into the establishment that the town deserves. Thank you very much for coming today, for your support and for being the best group of fans I have come across in football.
The players and I had a very frank discussion following the Tuesday night game against Dulwich and they all shared my disappointment, however we vowed to make it up to you and I’m sure you’d agree the boys were excellent against Leiston. To make the playoffs every game is critical and we need to keep finding ways to win. The plan was always to build this year and bid for promotion next season but as the playoff positions get closer and closer it is impossible not to grow increasingly optimistic and look to push on this season to give ourselves the opportunity to go straight up. That is the focus of our attention and lets hope we can do it, but if not we will set ourselves for a big push next season. For now, let us all focus on the matter in hand and sail together firstly towards the playoffs and then for promotion.
I would like to point you in the direction of the t-shirts we have for sale behind the bar with the logo ‘what a waste of money’. They are £15 and the money raised is being donated to Harry Parker as we look to support the fund to pay for his operation and rehabilitation in his bid to overcome Cerebral Palsy. It would be great if you could contribute to winding the opposition up whilst contributing to what I’m sure you will all agree is a fantastic cause.
You are a huge reason that the players perform to the best of their ability on the pitch so please do keep making as much noise as you can because you bring out the best in them.
