This Sunday New Lodge will see the Women’s Team return to action. Maidenhead United are the visitors for the First Round of the Women’s F.A. Cup.

Maidenhead compete in National League South West Division 1, the same level as Billericay.

Town started their F.A. Cup run in October with a 4-1 home win against Cambridge United. Therese Addison continued her record average of over a goal a game for the club. Freya Fuller, Zoe Rushen and Jay Blackie added to the score.

Their last match, on the 1st of November was another F.A. Cup home match. Chesham United, who play in the same division as Maidenhead took the lead in the first half of this Fourth Qualifying Round match.

After the break Therese and Paige Clemenson came off the bench to spearhead Town’s attack. A battling team performance bore fruit as T smashed an equaliser in.

An amazing through ball from Courtney Lumley set Paige Clemenson through on goal, her pace caused Chesham’s very well organised defence no end of problems. Her effort was on target but the visiting goal keeper pushed it wide.

It looked like the match was going to extra time as The Blues piled on the pressure. A well worked corner routine saw the ball come out to Lucy Jones. Lucy whipped the ball in to the box, it alluded everyone from both sides running at it, and bounced in to the net.

Maidenhead beat Denham United 1-0 and then won 2-1 at Fulham to get to the First Round.

The Magpies came to New Lodge in September 2018 for a Women’s National League Cup Qualifying Round match.

Jay Blackie scored twice, Karissa Rodney and Sam Pittuck scored hat-tricks with Zoe Rushen and Hayley Piggott finding the net as The Blues won 10-1.

Last season The Blues reached the Fourth Round of the Cup, drawing at Lewes before losing on penalties.
