Billericay Town overcame fellow Essex outfit Brightlingsea Regent in a 4-1 victory for the Blues on Boxing Day.
The hosts started brightly but they were unable to break down a robust Regent defence who were looking to do the double over the Blues after a 2-0 win in August. Brightlingsea had a chance to open the scoring with nine minutes on the clock when Samuel Jeremiah went past George Wind but his shot hit the side-netting.
Dan Brown’s side were dominating in the second half and the first goal of the game came when Toby Stevenson’s cross fell to Eze Ebuzoeme who powerfully struck past Charlie Turner. Ten minutes later, the Blues doubled their lead when Ebuzoeme calmly slotted into the corner after good play from Imran Uche.
However, soon after, Regent had a chance to halve the deficit when Harry Seaden fouled Suleyman Zuhdu inside the box and he stepped up and sent the ‘keeper the wrong way. The Blues regained their two-goal lead on the 79-minute mark as new signing Javaun Splatt set-up John Ufuah who placed the ball into the Brightlingsea net.
The Blues finished the afternoon with a fourth goal as Zack Littlejohn hit into his own net to ensure the three points stayed at New Lodge, ending the year on a high.
