Danny Waldren

Position: Midfield

Age 29 (21 March, 1989) Height 5ft 8in (1.72M)

Previous Club: Welling United Born: Thornton Heath/Bermondsey (??)

Danny joined BTFC in May 2017 from National South side, Welling United. A combative midfielder, his strong work ethic in the line of duty saw him gain the captaincy during the course of the season. Killed off Met Police with the fifth goal in the Velocity Cup Final and proudly lifted the silverware as Skipper.

A left-footed central midfielder with renowned work-rate and lethal shot, Danny proved to be the engine of the BTFC midfield. Able to play centrally, or on the left side, he proved particularly effective as the main holding player. He can also operate within a double-pivot in tandem with Matt Paine. A tough tackler, and classic box-to-box midfielder, he chipped in with a valuable six goals last season.

Danny, aged just 16, made his debut for now defunct Isthmian South side, Croydon Athletic, in 2005. By the time he had reached 100 appearances, he was captain and skippered the side to the title in 2009-10. In June 2011, he moved on to National South side Bromley. As Captain, he lifted the London Senior Cup in 2013 and crowned a four year spell (148 League appearances & 22 goals) with the Ravens by winning the 2014-15 National South title. This took Bromley, under captain Rob Swaine, to the National League for the first time ever.

In June 2015, Danny dropped down to the Isthmian Premier League and made 66 appearances in a single season with Dulwich Hamlet. The “Pink and Blue”2015-16 campaign ended in a 3-1 play-off final defeat to East Thurrock, including 2 goals from new BTFC arrival, Ricky Hayles. In summer 2016, Danny signed for National South side, Welling United, where he once more spent a single season.

We signed Danny in a double swoop on Welling. Team-mate, Dan Walker, also made the switch to Essex. Dan now plays for Dorking in the Isthmian Premier.
