Sam adds creativity to the midfield either cutting inside from a left-sided position or, placed more centrally, ahead of the defensive screen. Has the ability to beat his man, spread play and find space in the final third. Highly proficient technically, he has a solid track record throughout his career of scoring goals.

Sam started as a youth player at Chelsea before joining Oxford United’s academy in 2006. In 2008-9, aged 17, he debuted for the first team in the National League. On Boxing Day 2008, a bad tackle broke his fibula and ended his season. After recovering from injury, Sam signed a new contract in early 2010. He went on to make 58 appearances for United, helping the team return to the Football League via the play-off final in June 2010. In February 2011, he joined Barnet after a loan spell at Newport County. During an 18 month stay at Underhill, he made 67 appearances, scoring the club goal of the season in 2011-12.

In June 2012, Sam signed for League Two club Cheltenham Town making 78 appearances for the West Country side over two seasons. After over 150 games in the Football League, Sam moved to Whitehawk in July 2014, making 84 appearances and scoring 28 goals. Alongside Hawks top scorer, Jake Robinson, Sam was part of the side that was defeated in the 2014-15 National South play-off final. In June 2016, Sam signed for National South side, Ebbsfleet United, featuring 55 times and scoring 8 goals. Sam’s man of the match performance for Ebbsfleet in the May 2017 play off final helped gain National League status.

In June 2017, Sam turned down offers from League clubs to join Billericay Town. He recently penned a contract at the Blues securing his services until 2020.
