Havant & Waterlooville were formed when Havant (1883) merged with Waterlooville (1905) in 1998, whilst both were members of the Southern League.
The new club won the Southern League Southern Division in it’s first season since forming. They were promoted as founder members of the Conference South in 2004-05. They stayed at this level until 2016 when they were relegated to the Isthmian League Premier Division. They won it at the first attempt and were promoted, winning the National League South a year later.
The Hawks were four years old and competing in the Southern League Premier Division when they first met Billericay Town. The two clubs went head to head for a place in the F.A. Cup First Round at West Leigh Park. The hosts won the match 3-1.
The Blues travelled to Hampshire again in October to face Havant in the F.A. Trophy. This time the match ended in a draw, requiring a replay a month later. The Hawks triumphed again, winning 2-1 in extra-time.
The last meeting between the two sides occurred during December 2017, again in the F.A. Trophy. Jake Robinson scored twice as The Blues won 3-1.
