Jake Robinson’s hat trick against Thamesmead marked the sixth match in a row that Jake has scored in. This has now raised the question of which player has scored in the most consecutive matches for Billericay Town.
Before our current records began it’s thought that club legend, and Hall of Fame member, Fred Claydon scored in at least ten consecutive matches whilst the club were members of the Essex Olympian League in the late 1960’s.
Since the club gained senior status, and were founder members of the Essex Senior League, there have been several contenders for the record holder of the player to score in the most consecutive matches. The research continues…
Steve Bone scored in five 5 consecutive matches finishing the season with 18 goals.
Between February and April 1975 Freddie Clayden scored 12 goals in 7 consecutive matches. He would finish as the clubs top scorer at the end of the season, as usual, having scored 24 times. This would appear to be the club record during the senior period.
Geoff Aslett scored in 5 consecutive matches this season.

Again Fred Clayden had a run of scoring in 5 consecutive matches.
Fred Clayden scores for 5 matches in a row again. Doug Young also scored for 5 matches in a row, hitting the net 10 times during that run.
Before the end of the season Doug would go on a run of scoring for 6 consecutive matches. He ended the season having scored 29 times in all competitions and finished as the clubs top scorer.
During April 1981 Dave Groom scored 5 times, once in 5 matches in a row.
In September 1991 Steve Jones scored Town’s second goal in a 2-1 F.A. Cup win against Clacton Town. He went on to score in the next 4 matches.
Later that season he scored a hat-trick in three consecutive matches.
Town Hall of Fame entrant Leon Gutzmore scored for 5 matches in a row during September 1996 ending the month with 8 goals.
He repeated the feat in November/December the same year.
Leon Gutzmore did it again this season starting a 5 match scoring run during January 1998.
He would end the season having scored 51 times, a club record in the senior era.
Another Hall of Fame entrant, Joe Baker, struck for 5 matches in a row. On 2 December 2000 he scored against Hastings United in a 2-2 draw in the F.A. Trophy. The run came to an end with a brace in Town’s 2-0 win against Canvey Island.
In September 2004 Town drew 1-1 away at Northwood. Danny Hockton scored the Blues goal and then scored against their next 5 opponents.
He went on to score against Eastleigh, Braintree Town, twice against Southend Manor, a hat trick against Kingstonian and then once against Dorking.
During September 2008 Billy Bricknell scored for 5 matches in a row, including a brace against FC Clacton in an F.A. Cup match.
In October 2008 Billy scored Town’s only goal in a 3-1 defeat against Concord Rangers. This was the start of a 6 match scoring run.
In February 2011 Cedric Ngakam scored for 5 matches in a row, ending with a brace in Town’s 3-2 win against Heybridge Swifts.
After a run of three matches without a win, two without scoring, The Blues thumped Met Police 6-0. Amongst the goal scorers was Mike Fondop-Talom.
Mike scored in each of the clubs next 5 fixtures, making 6 in a row. He ended the season with 10 goals.
Town travelled to Thurrock on the August Bank Holiday and left with a 5-0 victory. Jake Robinson struck twice.
