Billericay Town begin their pre-season schedule on Tuesday night with a visit from League Two Colchester United, one of Kevin Watson’s former clubs.

On Saturday 17th July Town will travel in to North London where they play Haringey Borough of the Isthmian League. The Borough have reached the 4th Qualifying Round of the F.A. Cup i the last two seasons.

Haringey Borough first met Billericay Town on 8 September 1977 for the Second Qualifying Round of the F.A. Cup. Doug Young scored twice, with Fred Clayden also netting in the 3-1 victory. They met twice more in the Athenian League that season with both matches ending in draws.

The following Saturday, 24th July, Canvey Island visit Blunts Wall Lane for the first time since April 2017. A then club record attendance for a league match of 1,970 looked on as a Billy Bricknell double with a Jake Robinson goal secured a 3-1 home victory.

The Blues will play at home against Lewes on Tuesday 27th and then Enfield of the Essex Senior League, who are managed by Kevin’s former Col U team mate, Jamie Cureton.

Pre-season ends with three home matches.

Needham Market visit on Saturday 31st July. The two sides last met during April 2018 as Town closed in on the Isthmian League title. Jake Robinson scored a hat-trick, his 54th, 55th and 56th of the season, which were added to be Sam Deering on Jamie O’Hara.

On Tuesday 3rd August we welcome Maldon & Tiptree to New Lodge. Maldon have enjoyed success in the F.A. Cup over the last two seasons reaching the second round during the 2019-20 season by beating Leyton Orient 2-1 at Brisbane Road.

It’s been nearly 4 years since Town visited the Wallace Binder Ground for an Isthmian League Cup match. Sanchez Watt opened the scoring for Town before Dean Inman scored twice in the 3-0 win.

Maldon & Tiptree are managed by Wayne Brown, another former Colchester United team mate of Kevin Watson’s.

The final match of pre-season is against East London’s Dagenham & Redbridge. The two sides last had a competitive meeting in 2006, won 2-1 by The Daggers. They were due to meet for the final of the 2019-20 Essex Senior Cup but the season was cancelled due to the pandemic.
