Billericay Town FC can confirm that following our Essex Senior Cup Semi-Final against Aveley FC, the Essex FA as well as an independent panel have ruled that Aveley fielded an ineligible player. As a result, the match has been awarded to Billericay Town FC and we will now progress to the final of the competition.
We recognise that this outcome will generate discussion and we understand the disappointment felt by all involved at Aveley FC.
It is important to clarify that under competition regulations, responsibility for player eligibility rests solely with the club selecting the team. Any concerns regarding eligibility are dealt with through the appropriate regulatory processes after the fixture.
